The Will County freight transportation system is a critical component of the regional and state economies, supporting a large number of freight-specific jobs. To be successful, the Freight Plan will examine workforce needs of major freight-related industries in the county and identify strategies to enhance the stream of available, qualified workers and access to jobs.  This is essential to maintain and improve Will County’s role as the economic gateway to the Midwest. Efficient and safe freight mobility, together with an available, trained workforce, will support commercial and industrial growth, job creation and a high quality of life. This page will present results of the freight workforce analysis and proposed strategies as they are developed.

As part of a separate, grant-funded initiative, a Workforce Mobility Plan will also be developed.
